It's Axle time. What's the best option here?

Not enough feedback on the BBG axles yet. I do know there are many out there that have them. I have a set in my car.

Running 10.00 you probably could get away with redeye axles being the stock axles held up awhile. I picked up a used set on ebay for $550. Widebodies use the same axles so there are lots of them out there

The DSS would be a good choice also
Forgot this one.

I've thought about redeye stuff too for those exact reasons. My biggest thing is the street/track miles. I've put somewhere between 6-7k on the car alone thru 4 events so far this year. I just don't want to do it twice (or 3x) and hopefully not in anyone's driveway again.

Well...I think we're gonna gamble on the Redeye stuff...

The stock stuff did take Hella abuse for a long time, I prefer an OEM solution when possible and TBH I'm not ready to drop 3g's on a set of axles just yet. By that point I feel like diff & big boy stuff should be done together or close to it.

My closest "power broker" claims they're not a power broker or DC dealer...says only 5 dealers have on-hand in the entire nation with an estimated 45 day wait. Closest dealer is essentially an entire days drive round trip...

...but of all places HHP actually had one set BNIB on the shelf. So we got an order in as soon as we could.

Hoping this cures a bunch of the driveline vibration we picked up before the failure. I'll be keeping the parts store axle as an emergency spare.

What burns me up is there's no aftermarket tone ring that actually fits right. I've destroyed 3 of them (2 different brands) ended up using the one off stock axle. Wonder if parts store axle tone rings will work. MMX ones fit like crap, and do not try the TRQ ones, they're worse. Have mixed tone ring brands on car with no issues

With the DSS axles all aftermarket tone rings fit like crap on them. The OEM tone rings (you can only get with buying the entire axle) fits smoothly on them. So the aftermarket options must have a tighter tolerance

Hey you guys tell me what to do with this one axle. I have this one damn RE axle. I have no idea if it is worth anymore than scrap metal. That is the one where the outer CV started to leak last year while it was temporally lowered. I had it replaced. It looks like a PIA to try to screw with it. Should I just dump it into the garbage? Or does someone want it for shipping costs? Otherwise the only junk that remains on my shelf is one 2016 S/C. The dealer took it off a HC they sold because they “thought” it did not sound right. Someday I’ll either have it checked/upgraded and sell it, or someone may just want it as is:unsure: I know that piece of junk is not worthless.

...an extra blower you say? Lemme float word around the circle.

The axle itself...just sounds like grease & boot? I'd fix it and keep for spare for you or anyone else that pops it at the track.

If I pop a redeye axle that is the next step. I have 2 events left this year (the Durango is running Buckeye Skips now) so we'll cross that bridge when we get there. I feel like the next one I won't be so lucky and it'll be diff time too. Then I won't mind dropping 3g's on axles.

One dude who is about 260 and 6’-4” at the dealer seems to like me and apparently hates other customers. But he is a wizard on working on these and I like him a lot. He will not allow anyone to touch it when/if I bring it in. So he gave me one off an 2016 and said we are going to trash it, so take it. Complete, including the throttle body and fuel lines! I said hell yes, put it in my truck. I have been busy and thought someday I just take it to WI and drop it off when I go to Road America at SDG someday. But they want me to tear it down first, so I have been busy and time moves on. You guys let me know. As far as my “other half” looks at those boxes all my OEM Harley parts for my extreme rare ‘93 in other crates in my storage area? Burn that trash and de-clutter it. Of course I do not throw anything away, even my OEM sway bar connectors still live!
