I am so happy for both the Turks and the Johnsons - they are GREAT people! FX package they are finally doing now is what AJ tried to tell NHRA they should do for Pro Stock when they mandated the EFI changeover in 2016, but as usual, they do not listen. I just hope FX has enough time to take hold with all the woke BS going on for body parts and engine availability.

No doubt the NHRA is already getting out the lead trophy for them. They are not going to allow the Stanfield’s Chevy to get beat up on by a Dodge. And btw… what happened to Allen Johnson? I thought he was the driver. I’m loosing interest already 🙄

I thought the same about Allen. They were testing in bg so he still could be driving at the next race

What are you disagreeing with @Marc0779 ?

Allen is still the driver for this season; Geoff wanted to do some in-between race testing, and AJ was not available, so Alex stepped in to help (twice now). I have not heard what their plans are after this season (Vegas) with regard to driver.

I think Geoff is retired now due to the previous crash and the after effects @drag racer ? Also I see NHRA salivating to give Dodge a weight penalty.

Geoff is chomping at the bit to drive again, but he will have to weigh that risk. Heard him hint at starting back with his FSS Blackbird?

It's an absolute shame that this class is a day late and a dollar short.
THIS is what pro stock should have always been.

That's my opinion.. oughta be yours. :p

Unfortunately these classes in the NHRA get virtually zero coverage. The Fuel and Pro Stock classes are the only thing shown on TV. The occasional single final pass with cars in the so-called Sportsman categories is it. Check the stands when they do show FSS or now these guys. Empty. A heads up class like this is a million dollars to build a competitive car/team. There are guys who can and will do that but really this class is just another mega dollar tube chassis car with the main distinction being factory dimension body panels. Better than Pro Stock yes. Chevys, Fords and Dodges competing but they will penalize the shit out of whoever gets out ahead to keep parity. 🙄

Allen Johnson will step away from racing in the Factory X class.
Geoff Turk made the announcement that Allen Johnson has stepped away from driving the famous Blackbird X, leaving the seat open. Turk reached out to Alex Laughlin about joining the team for the upcoming season as he accepted the invitation.
Last year, Laughlin drove Jim Dunn Racing Dodge Funny Car, but left the team at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
Laughlin is a well-rounded driver with many class licenses and has competed in the following categories, Funny Car, Top Fuel, Pro Stock, Pro Modified, Top Alcohol Dragster, Competition Eliminator, Radial vs the World and No Prep Kings.
Now, he will get the experience in the Factory X class in one of the most popular cars of the class.
Last year, the Dodge Challenger was able to break into the 200 mph club with an outstanding elapse time of 7.04 at 202.55. Off the record, the car has gone 6.97 during a testing session.
Turk is now looking for marketing partners to join their program this year.
As of now, the team will continue to their development partnership with BES Racing Engines in both Factory X and Factory Showdown classes. Turk has also mentioned adding a second to the team.
The Factory X class season will start in April in Las Vegas and concluded in Las Vegas after an eight race scheduled.

I’ll drive the wheels off it
