Ford's electric car division posted a loss of $1.3bn in the first quarter of 2024, due to falling prices and declining demand. The US automaker expects losses of up to $5.5bn in its electric car division this year. The sad thing is the tax payers are getting screwed on both sides of the bankruptcy. New green EV deal subsidies up front & bankruptcy on the back side. A solid business plan for many these days.

"Affordable" means higher taxpayer subsidies. Not one of these vehicles would be on the road, at full price. Nor, would they persist, in the market, without even more taxpayer funded charging subsidies.

I wonder how many blue hair's cars I'm paying for...

The reason is because Ford broke off the EV division as a separate entity. If the build a 5 billion dollar battery plant and have only built 100 EV’s then those 100 EV’s are going to look very expensive on a balance sheet for your taxes.
