Does the Daytona package include the 392 or is it just a badge?

Looking at a 2018 Charger Daytona and I'm trying to figure out if this thing is actually the 392 or if it's just the 5.7 with a badge. I know the 2018 models had both available, but I'm not sure if the Hemi orange or something else was supposed to give it away. I don't have the original window sticker and the door sticker just shows a bunch of codes I don't know how to read. The seller says it's the 392 but I'd like to confirm before I drive four hours to go see it. Is there any way to tell by looking at the engine or the VIN? Or do I have to decode something on the door jam? Just trying to figure out if it's the real thing.

The Daytona came with both the 392 and 5.7. If you have the VIN you can pull up the window sticker on our site and find out all the options.

Do you have pictures of the Charger Daytona?

The Door Jam codes give info for things like paint Trim, Build date

The VIN number is what you need. If it has a J in the 8th position, it is a real 392.
(My daughter has a 392 Rubicon, and they are built stronger than the 5.7' and sounds awesome, but that is her Jeep)

If it has T, it’s a 5.7 wearing a Daytona badge.

392- 6.4L VS 5.7 -345

Massive intake manifold with “6.4L” or “392 HEMI” badging 5.7 is smaller

Orange/bronze valve covers (Hemi Orange) Yes this is the major clue, that I think you are asking.
5,7 has the Black Valve covers

Active intake runner actuator on the front of the intake 5.7 does not have one.

Larger throttle body 5.7 has a smaller one

Factory oil cooler lines visible at the filter housing

Bigger Brembo brakes (6‑piston front on Daytona 392) 5.7 has the 4 piston.

Good luck,

~Linda
