When I rotate the tires, I clean the barrels of the wheels and I clean all the wheel wells, frame rails and suspension components as far as I can reach without getting underneath it. The top of the front frame rails on the Charger always was full of grit and small road stones.
I WD40 the entire underneath, wheel wells, exhaust system, everything, and wipe it down with rags once or twice a year, looks almost like new yet under there. WD 40 the rim barrels too, it takes everything off including road tar.
let the soap sit for about five minutes, switch over to water and rinse, i highly recommend it on a nice sunny day. do remember, when you drive in the rain the underside is seeing ample amounts of water. when doing under the engine make sure not to go too ham and ensure you have your skid/plates on. when I do the race car i'll make a video of it.
I gotta admit ...I'm beyond OCD...it never sees rain ..so it's never grimy...but it gets put up on the lift and detailed regularly...nicks are touched up..and all road grime..(bugs that get trapped underneath)..my wife thinks I'm crazy...her standard line..yer such a slob around the house...but god forbid yer cars get dusty...she's right..
Man ..you aint seen nothin...the man butchers his own meat..grows his own crops...drinks from a stream...bathes in a babbling brook...and I don't wanna scare ya by tellin ya what he does to the laundry....
