Considering used Wrangler 392 - thoughts?

Replace the old 2006 Durango (engine about dead and cancerous rust)

Go for it!! They're freaking awesome! Sound cool as hell and the power is more than enough for the vehicle. Top speed is (electronically) limited to 99mph because of tires.

We rented a Sahara on vacation for a week. Honestly it was pretty terrible imo. Noisy, felt like it was all over the road, cheap feeling, and had an expensive msrp. I wanted to love it as we were considering a 392.

Fun on the beach with the top off, but price of admission way too high for that.

My ‘23 392 in the Durango at about 25k miles is a wonderful thing! Makes me smile every time I turn it on. It has worked great from sea level in Florida to 12k feet in Summit County CO. I think the Wrangler has an exhaust volume setting or two? Get it, I want a ride.

Sorry for your experience, not how we want to be thought of, trying to reverse that path. Just like our country, were trying to get going in the correct direction, does take time.
Unfortunately, that was because of that AH Carlos Tavares!!
He screwed us (corporation) over in more ways than one, but the new leadership is really trying to fix the mess we were left with!!
AND bringing prices down in the process. We do make A LOT of Wranglers though, last I heard all 392s coming out are sold orders, or at least used to be.

Never driven one myself, but have read many reviews that shared a similar experience to what Speedy! had.

I'd try to rent one for at least a few days & see if it's what you really want. For me, even tho I love 'motor music', in some vehicles it gets to be too much & becomes irritating after a while. Add to that the intrinsic nosiness in the cabin & harsh ride and, well .................

The other thing is the (annoying AF) MDS on the 392 . It doesn't seem to bother some, but I came to hate it in the short time I had the DDSRT. Again, you need to experience it for a bit to see if it's intrusive given your driving habits & speed limits on local roads etc.

I had a Sierria 2dr,soft top...(before the 392's)...it was a fun vehicle..the fun factor lasted 2 yrs....that was enough

They're super popular, the Wrangler, around here at least. I see at least 10 every time I go anywhere and for the most part they look cool as well. I also like that they're solid front axle, but that apparently comes with some driving characteristic consequences that we noticed in our rental.

My biggest problem with them is their cost. The platform hasn't really changed in like 40 years so why do they cost so much? If it were a $30K vehicle game on.

The next year we rented a Durango and it was just a lowly V6 model and we actually loved it. I wouldn't mind having a 392 Durango if I had the room.
