So many choices! I have my oil changed at the dealer every six months. The dealer will only use PUP on the Hellcat. Per the dealer, this will keep the warranty in effect, as I have an 8-year extended warranty. I have owned three Challenger Hellcats and never a problem and every six months I have the oil changed and a check-up. I plan to keep the same procedures, it works and the warranty is in effect, if there is a problem.

Would be hard to know if you ever have a problem until 100Ks miles and many years. Go do some reading on Bob Is The Oil Guy forums, many people run the cheapest oil they can find for many many miles without issue.

I used to run Penzoil Platinum Full Synthetic (before Ultra came out) in our cars. Then saw some real world testing that showed the Penzoil Full Synthetic was actually a better oil (non Platinum) and switched to that. I do once a year oil changes and have for MANY years on the 4Runner. When I pulled the valve covers a couple years ago at 160K miles to replace gaskets it looked new inside.

Summary, I don't get too hung up on oil and oil change intervals.

I do a 6 mos PUP on the Demon 170 though, strictly for the warranty.

@Speedy after the warranty on the 170 will you go to annual oil changes?

Now that I think about, this is why this spring when I double-checked that oil was in stock before going to grab some, no one had it in stock, and Amazon had it for like 3 times the price. Then I searched parts by model and found that the part number changed.

This is the 2 bottles I have, old and new (Canadian bilingual labels). Not sure why they just switch to refining from Canadian natural gas. We got plenty of it up here.

I have used PUP 0W-40 in the hellcat and my daughters SRT8 Charger (392) exclusively, but I use Mobile 1 for most everything else.
How many use Mobile 1 and has anyone had issues? I would switch at this point, unless there have been any issues...

From BITOG thread: Pennzoil guy says it hasn't changed. [scratch]
Hello all - I wanted to jump in to help clarify a few of the questions that have come up recently. And thanks for your patience while we have been working to pull the latest information together in one place.

First, Pennzoil Ultra Platinum formulations have not been altered in any way and continue to use the same percentage of GTL base oil.

In 2024, we updated our language from “Made From Natural Gas” to “Made With Natural Gas” to more clearly describe how natural gas is used in the formulation. “Made With” more accurately reflects that natural-gas-derived GTL base oil is used in combination with other components, such as high-performance additives, to create the finished motor oil. This wording update did not mean that Pennzoil Platinum had stopped using GTL base oil.

For Pennzoil Platinum and Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage products, we are using alternate formulations in response to ongoing supply constraints and to help maintain product availability. These formulations now use a combination of GTL and high-quality non-GTL base oils and continue to meet the claims, specifications and approvals stated on our product labels and website, including applicable API and ILSAC specifications.

For more information, visit Pennzoil Formulation Q&A | Pennzoil®.

In addition, we are working on updating the product spec sheets on our website by next week.

Thanks, everyone - we appreciate the questions and the opportunity to provide clarity.

-Will Cramer, Pennzoil Product Portfolio Manager

Hmmm Shell marketing/business guy says it has not changed, respected independent technical tribologist proved it has changed (also easily confirmed at casual glance by removal of Dexos on the label)...not that it's now terrible, but it is not as good as the long stable formulation many of us like a lot. I hope they can get it back to where it was.

Sorry to hear, the hot weather kept you indoors. I was out doors doing a little yard work and cleanup in one of my buildings. We were lucky, the humidity was moderate.
