It should be posted under the hood on a sticker with the proper refrigerant oil type. Dodge used a mix of 134a & 1234yf between '15 & '21, even on the same model & engine. Not sure why that is but my best guess is they had stock/availability of the a/c systems built for 'a' and they got installed when there was shortages of the yf based systems ?? Or, could be something to do with the state (and it's regs) the car was targeted to be shipped to ?? Anything '22 or later uses yf.

The 2 systems are somewhat compatible (tho they have different compressor/condenser & expansion valve designs) and you can top off a yf system with a type a ref, but it will progressively degrade the cooling capacity & eventually muck it up completely. People do it because the yf stuff is 4 - 5x more expensive.

As for the new law, it does not seem to address cars at all, just the 'repair requirements' for fixing leaks in larger a/c systems (commercial stuff, building a/c etc.) before you can recharge a system that's low on pressure.

@MikeD1 I think the new law will help with my home air conditioning. Last year when I had problems, that's all I heard about was the refrigerant is going to cause the Unit to be obsolete. I heard Trump say he didn't like that waste.
