So Gator Dude (aka DavidKFla), I've had two pickups with crummy brakes.

With the first one, a GM dually, I had to hit the brakes hard on the way home (SoCal traffic) before bedding those brakes in.

Next was a Ram that a shop (don't ask) put the rotors back on with greasy gloves, then never cleaned the rotors afterwards.

Lastly, I've wondered for years what the goop that people spray onto tires does to the brakes. It seems like it gets on the wheels and then the sides of the body, but what does that crap do to the brakes?? It can't be good for them.
It's been this way since new. They just don't have the gripping power that I like.

Give me the Hemi any day over this. Who knows, maybe this’ll be a great engine but I have my concerns about longevity. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's been this way since new. They just don't have the gripping power that I like.
By any chance, did the dealer prep include spraying goop on the tires?

Well - I hear that the new Dodge Hornet is "Swarming the Nation"......so there's that! :geek:

-Plus GM is has a 4 cyl. engine as an option for their 1/2 ton trucks, so it could be worse...
Our housekeeper bought the 4 cylinder Silverado. I did a little research and it has over a 4% failure rate.
The cam moves back and forth so it can run on only 2 cylinders. Plus the 5.3 gets better fuel economy.

That's a lot better than the 15% rate on Ecodiesels.

Im pretty sure that it needs front pads at 28K miles.
A friend of mine delivers trailers, up to 30,000 lbs. worth at a time (stacked), for a manufacturer. He drives enough to buy a new Ram every four or five years. That's normally at just shy of 500,000 miles.

He has yet to have to replace any brake components before trade-in time. I tow less weight, but never bobtail like he does on the return trips, and at 23,000 miles there's no measurable wear on my pads.

Yours probably does need new pads, but not because of wear.

Probably garbage friction material. It is a rona truck. Just like the cheap ass electrical connectors used.

This doesn't feel like a 500K truck.

Well, it shouldn't take more than two minutes to take a peek at the pad thickness through the wheel.

Although, I have never found that worn pads affected brake performance. Not until there's metal to metal contact anyway.

I for one am not excited about another V6 in a full size gas truck. I had the EcoPoop Raptor. It wasn’t a bad truck, but it just didn’t have the soul of a V8.

this 'annoucement' today ended up being nothing more than yet another sticker package.

Well maybe not that bad really, these are still Hemi's and the Hellcat powered TRX after all.

I thought they released a new color for the TRX. Well, old color (Destroyer Gray) but with a new name.

Ram always does a good job with commercials. I was just hoping for more power. If I was buying a new TRX today this would be a cool option.
