There have been some deals and maybe not so good deals but one has to remember all sellers are in different situations, one needing $$$ for a new car coming in while the other has no problem putting a cover back on it and letting it sit. My Dealer Fees were about 800
OTD for this car (if i bought this one) = 105,640
Inflation from 2018 - 2023 brings this to 129,436

Put 20k down and finance at 2.9 for 60 (guessing but i think that was a normal rate back then)
$6,400 in interest paid.

Adding the interest spent
Total $135,836
Storage insurance isn't much for regular antique cars so I am going to assume maybe $100/yr insurance for this???
136k give or take out of pocket.

My guess is with that collection he didn't finance it so the $6,400 might be his profit (if any). My guess he came out OK and at least got the joy to look at it and sip whiskey around it with his buddies......... LOL. I don't finance my toys either unless I have to to get a huge rebate and the times I have I pay it off within 1-3 months depending on the deal and that small bit of interest doesn't turn it upside down.

He probably didn't finance it looking at the background. But NJ/NY area, i'd bet he did pay a decent markup for it.
So subtract 6400 and add at least 10k markup if not more.

Why keep it in the garage?

My guess is he solely bought it to flip at some point as for keeping it in the garage and 15 miles. From what I have been following for a few years and Demon sales, most 2k-6k mile demons with crates bring around mid $120's while 80 - 500 mile ones bring $140's with a crate. When we see the occasional 5-20 mile Demons surface they were in the 150k-160k range so this one at $144,500 is another sign of current economy effect is my best guess. The one I am eventually after will be the a 2-7k car that I can put miles on without killing value and have it's crate. Almost bought a 7k mile in Destroyer gray car w/ black laguna/alcantara a few months back but no crate, that car I could have bought for about $115k at the time. My cars, all of them go to the track!
