I think we can all pretty much agree the role music has played in all our lives...and to the world in general....regardless of our age group...(we got em all on here)..I gotta believe everybody has an appreciation for music.......and most listen every day. I would imagine...so let's share your musical stories...who plays an instrument...who sings...who's been in a band....who amongst us...has met..or are friends with musical celebrities....what valuable music memorabilia do you have....and who is the Forums all time biggest concert goer...let's hear your claim to fame...

My best was an all access pass to see Santana.
Watched sitting on equipment boxes just off stage.
Great concert!
Been to many concerts by very talented artists.

Most memorable was a blue grass concert I went to in Cacapon, WV back in the early 70’s. I snuck inside the restricted area by the stage and sat on a truck bumper. Joni Mitchell came back and sat on the bumper next to me. She said she wasn’t feeling good and just taking a break. A security guy came up and asked her if I was bothering her and she said I was fine. About that time, Arlo Guthrie struck up A Train they call New Orleans. I was sitting no more than 40-50’ from him. It literally gave me goosebumps!

Not a huge concert goer, but always loved The Who. Saw them at The Palace of Auburn Hills in ‘05. Then a couple weeks later they were still in Michigan at Van Andel in Grand Rapids. I wasn’t going to go again, but the radio said tickets were still available two days prior. So Mrs Jroyk said, “Go ahead buy us a couple tickets.” I paid for general floor seats and didn’t really pay attention to the seats. When we got there we were given wrist bands and escorted to front row center right between Pete and Roger. Promoters must not have wanted those seats empty so we got them.

Wife plays the guitar and drums; I have no musical talent!!
We really just started going to concerts on a regular basis in the last ten years or so, been to quite a few and will continue to see the bands we enjoy. Told the wife we need to see the groups we want before they retire or die since they're all getting fookin old. Ozzy proves my point.

Very first concert??
Cher with Cindy Lauper opening during gay pride month about a twenty years ago:eek::oops:o_O
Bought the tickets for the wife's birthday (she's a fan) Wife kept getting scolded by security for standing on her chair (floor seats towards the back) and after about the fourth time another guard showed up and said you can't do that "come with me!" I thought we we're getting kicked out, turns out he moved us into the third-row, middle aisle seats so she could see because she is so short! That was awesome, you could see the tattoo on Cher's ass from those seats, and I have always bought seats in the first few rows ever since. It's the only way to see a concert!

Meet and Greets. Been to so many. They started-out being great, because the bands loved their fans...but it finally turned to being like a plane-flight. "Here's a liquid, peanuts, shake-hands...move on". We don't attend concerts anymore. All the bands we like/liked, have aged-out. I think some should be embarrassed to continue on. I think it was about 5
years ago, we decided it was enough. We have met so many of our favorites, who were truly great people to talk with. But, M&G's became "bum-rushes". We have all our memories, and some great souvenirs. It's sad, but nobody will care when we go, and most stuff ends up in yard sales and roll-off dumpsters in driveways.

My first concert was either Barnstorm at the Flint IMA, or KISS at the Michigan Palace. I think it was Joe and Barnstorm.
I remember KISS in the entrance hallway, hawking merch and talking with people. 2 years later....nobody was worthy. LOL
Both shows were in `73.

After seeing The Beach Boys at age 12 or so, my next concert was the MC5 in a small venue in Birmingham, MI 1968. Ears rang for three days. Probably lost a little hearing permanently that day. Quite a change from the BB’s.

Kick Out The Jams Mother F’rs!
