You're correct in that there doesn't seem to be a traditional Tq converter depicted here, however the electric motor is also rearward of the tq converter and seemingly "in parallel" with the output of the I.C input to the trans.

You're looking at an electric motor with a flywheel/ dampner in front. There is no torque converter in the picture. this will require a 48V system and a huge battery.
