With 2024 confirmed as the debut EV Challenger, is MY 2023 already DOA for a killer F.E. ICE model?

It's late May 2022 so 2023 models have been set by now. With all the hype surrounding the 2024 go-fast Challenger golf cart, I gotta think 2023 is already an afterthought. Is there ANY (realistic) chance we see a BEAST Final Edition Challenger that even makes the Demon look sedate? My gut says no, especially since Stellantis would need to invest serious R&D $ into a dead-man-walking drivetrain. Plus, from all that I've read, getting 840hp to be street legal in 2018 was no easy task. Five years later the restrictions are even tighter.

That said, never say never I guess...

Thoughts (and wild conjecture!) most welcome.

Gotta believe it’s DOA. They hyped the hell out of the DC stuff and the performance kits and you can’t even get them.

ZR1 was a last minute decision from GM for the C7 generation.
Apparently the hold up with the 885hp package is getting it passed emissions.

The 426 was likely too dirty of a motor and probably converted to the Hellephant crate to recoup some development costs.

I think they do some tricks, maybe up the HP. Possibly to have an 835hp Final Edition.

At this point, they won't even take orders for HO Hellcats and pretty much locked up the JBs to certain dealers. Ones that want to work with customers don't have allocations and those that have them want a premium.

The combination of all this shit, I think Dodge is going out on a whimper. Cool ideas that were trashed because of COVID, inflation, transportation issues you name it.

The C8 Corvette still can't fill their demand either.
Have you tried to buy a Bronco? LOL

And my factory is no different. We have finished goods missing a part or two but we have to keep production running. Its a complete shit show. We have thousands of some parts and nothing of another.

If COVID and the green new deal didn't happen, we probably have a Demon killer.

885-900hp
Carbon Fiber wheels
S/S trim but with Demon suspension and trans brake. I think they skip the crate and just put the 885 DC kit in the trunk from the factory.
No option car. Only 2 seats, light weight cloth
Carbon fiber hood, trunk, and possibly roof.

Only comes in black or red
130-150k msrp and very much limited to 1500 units or so. Maybe even require a NHRA license to buy it.
Low 9s (as NHRA said 9.00 and 150 under doesn't require a cage anymore)

I‘d take a Jailbreak TRX. That would be a great Hellcat equipped vehicle swan song. Just saying…

Me too LOL

Id bring back a cheap entry level car that can be hot rodded as well like the SRT4 neon. Get the youngsters while they are still forming opinions.

I feel the big American auto manufacturers are leaving them out. Guys I know who drove Hondas, Toyotas etc 20 years ago, have at least 1 if not 2 in the garage now. Not interested in American anything.

I'll just build my own if needed. That's what we had to do before Hellcat so most of us long term folks are used to that already. New folks got spoiled by the Hellcat.

You should open your own speed shop and start doing cars commercially - like Lingenfelter back in the day ......................

Before the Hellcats, you couldn't really tune the Gen 3 Hemis. Not the newer ones at least.

Now you can buy a holley ecu kit to swap it into whatever you want and have it run.

I already went back to building cars. I kind of forgot how much fun it was to pick stuff out and play with it etc.
That is if you can find the parts. But thats a whole other story

Only someone like ChargerChallenger would even try.
Not being able to get a Bronco is a good thing.

If they do a Jailbreak TRX, put me down for one in Sinamon Stick. I would LOVE to have that combination.

To add to the “build” conversation, I’m in the process of building a ‘69 Cuda fastback with a Hellcrate engine, Tremec 5speed and Dana 60 (by Strange). I jumped on the crate engine when they came out in 2017 and now I’m second guessing that maybe I should put a 700 -1,000hp E crate kit in it when they undoubtably will come on the market. I’m currently paying $6.69 per gallon to put premium fuel in my Red Eye. Never dreamed the world would degenerate to its current state.

I'd never make any money, I'm way too picky and would spend too much time on each project LOL.

You could tune Gen 3 Hemis. My 2009 had a built motor, blower, etc and was tooooned. Had to use Diablo which was bumpy but it worked.

Make your wife the office manager, she's obviously very disciplined & will reel you back in when you start to bleed over into scope creep territory ;)

Even if they did come out with something the ADM’s would keep me away. Never paid one never will.

The "arrangement" will move things along for us in positive ways

That's all I can say for now.
