I’ll start the thread, so we can stack up videos in one thread, unless we want to highlight by track?

Anyway here is session #2 at Road America Saturday. The last lap here was my best time for a lap of the weekend. I’ll put together some other clips, but I know it is boring to watch, so I may try some clips for entertainment next. MVP hates Challengers because some ass came in a couple of years ago, entered advanced and caused a mess. Oh well, point byes are good passing practice. The Redeye was working great. Ha, at least on Saturday.

Nothing wrong with the brakes etc. Saturday was flawless. These were laps in session #1. I’ll post another set where I ran about six laps all within one second of consistency. Sunday some electrical gremlin hiccuped. I was driving with a P0420 code that appeared minor, benign, etc. in light rain/mist. At this point my dealer has been wonderful looking at my car with 11,000 miles on it. It appeared weird, still looks weird, but first things first right? The starter was toasted! We will have a new one tomorrow and then hope we will fire it up and ask it again what is your problem? I even looked at a computer screen at the dealer yesterday, it was being a bitch. Silent treatment via diagnostic messages! So they went to the fundamentals, looked at the starter that was not doing anything even with no other indications of a problem. Me? I never hit the damn starter button until it was safely parked in Park on the side of the track. If that thing engaged in Drive, then someone needs to explain how that happened.

Yeah.....I watched your video....and knowing that you were rightfully torqued up......decided not to comment right away. I'm sure you have a lot of fun doing that type of racing, and it's disheartening when something bad happens. I'm sure you'll get it figured out and be back at it soon.

Any specific rules on a track like this with reference to passing ?
Are slower cars suppose to pull down ?

Yep, what is more fun that running the living shit out of it for 15-20 min at a time. How cool is it to just stomp it, pass another and head for the next corner or do a quick roll race? And no cops anywhere!! Plus watch your own lap times to race against yourself. Of course your last personal best is not fast enough!

Thanks for the video. Road America is my favorite track. I've used that escape road at turn 5 a few times in the rain.:)

I gotta tell ya.....I never imagined the brakes would get as hot as depicted in that video that @BULL posted from his test. That's incredible.

I like all your data recording metrics displayed on the video

TD is a bit more aggressive with the brakes. He uses his worst case data. Which is rough! I’ll sacrifice a few seconds per lap and back out just a bit early on these RA straights. Others on Saturday noticed that also and came and said the car was amazing on acceleration and they could see I was backing out way early themselves.

Hell about 15-20 min after the race the temp gun still showed the rotors at 350 degrees. The wheels themselves were 150 degrees.

The engine just sits and says give me more fuel and spark and don’t worry about me. Now we just need some of these advanced computer systems to back off!! Can a TCM tune be in my future?

That BIR turn while fast is nearly equal to what we do at the end of the RA main straight. 155-60! I have a little segment I’ll post where I about slammed into a rookie in a BMW down there Saturday.

As a generalization, the energies at BIR vs RA are roughly the same, what makes RA more demanding is that the duration is longer.

(Again, a generalization, the watts into the rotor are roughly similar, but are a longer braking event. Stick your hand into a 400F oven for a second or for 10 seconds...)

When a lead car gives a hand signal to allow a faster car to pass, they are SUPPOSED to come off WOT and make it easier for the faster car to pass. However, in general with our Hellcats this doesn't matter. ;)
