Hello All,

Sorry if this is an old question: I’ve added a Per4Mance DIRS to my 2021 H-Cat and was wonder if I should add the RedEye DS, as it‘s stronger ( from what I‘ve read )
I’ve got Nitto 555 RII ( stock size ) Is it a good upgrade for durability? I won‘e be drag racing very often, but it only takes once to break something…Any opinions ?
Thanks

I have nothing but problems with a few 1 piece driveshafts. I put the stock demon 2 piece in and it's awesome. I run 1.35 sixty foots with it and drive it alot on the street . Best upgrade in my opinion.

Awesome! Now the question is how do I get one!!!! I heard dealers will only sell redeye/demon parts with proof of ownership.

They go off of restriction from time to time so call your deal and ask. If it's on restriction see if someone local will help you out ..

If you are stock and don't go to the track much, I wouldn't worry about. I went 10.6 on stock ds and axles

I have run the nittos and mickey thompsons at the track. Hooking a stock Hellcat won't break parts, wheel hop will. There have been cars in the 9's with stock ds and axles

I would never take a Hellcat or a scat pack to the track on factory tires

I run a stock driveshaft and axles and have had zero problems with it. My car runs 10.1’s in good DA and 1.47 60 ft times. You won’t have any issues!

As you start making more power and are running faster it will be more of a concern. If you are planning on doing a tune and pulley it doesn't hurt to upgrade parts. Never hurts to upgrade but I wouldn't be to worried about breaking parts on a stock hellcat. If you do get into wheel hop lift

Thanks! So now, what’s the best way to avoid wheel hop lift running the Nitto 555RII’s at the track?
Use the water box to heat them up? Avoid it all together? Do not use launch control/line loc? Use them? Some videos have showed avoiding the launch control at the strip, as it wasn’t designed for use on a strip that’s prepped.

Foot brake it. Yes use the water box.
#1 is to install a diff brace system. This will help protect against breakage.
Nittos needs a little more heat than a street r. Just don't overdo it.

Did you install the front one as well? I noticed a much better hook.

The CCI 4" has been one of the better 1pc options.

When mine fails I will be going with a redeye shaft.

Note: applies to the taxicab model...not that fancy 2 door crap.

2016 the driveshafts in the hellcat improved over the 15s. With a 15 the fear was sticky tires would just break it. If you are stock I wouldn't worry about it.
I wouldn't recommend this but I have cut low 1.4s on a stock driveshaft and snuck a 9 second pass in as well before upgrading.

I seriously doubt that Dodge is making two different driveshafts for Hellcats. It is a production line piece and there is just no way they are going to continue to make a “weak” version for regular Hellcats and a stronger version for Redeyes.

Would have to look up both cars and part numbers. But I agree, why would they make 2 different ones

I have seen them play hokey pokey with parts numbers. Different numbers for different cars…. same part. Demon is probably the best example for that. If I had a 2020 or later Hellcat I would leave the DS and spend the money on the DIRS and cradle bushings.
