Thanks to @16GoManGoHC2 for some of the data points on this one. Gonna try something new for the fall race season :)

I just reached out to a company called one ethanol this week they aren’t to far from me. I’m thinking I’m going to get an e85 drum from them. My question to them is if I get a 55 gallon drum how long will the e85 stay good if I fill it up after every fill up.
my goal is the straight e85 tune will be a race only tune and I will use the flex tune for normal diving and cruising.
I have not been in a situation yet this summer where I have needed 93. One time out with the car I did put 5 gallons in the trunk though and have had 5 gallons or so in the garage that I have needed a few times knowing I’m not going in the direction of an e85 station.
im also trying to figure out if I go with a 55 gal drum how much timing I’ll be able to ramp in compared to pump e85. I’ve seen some shops say they don’t change timing much between the pump tune and the dedicated e85 race jug tune besides knowing they get good fuel. I’ll have to see.
wife asked me today how much it’ll cost if I end up blowing the engine. I told her the price of a short block and she said it wasn’t as bad as she thought. The price was with me pulling and dropping the engine. If that happens next fall would be the time. Shop will be up and I’ll have a winter project. Not saying that’s the goal I just won’t get to crazy with it until that time.

But as always good info. I know some people get bored by it and it won’t get you the most subscribers. But us people who actually take interest in our cars appreciate it. I’d rather see videos like this than some vlogger who has no idea what he is talking about

This is what I ended up ordering since they aren’t far from here. I went with a Drum of S. I didn’t think R was needed.

Is that a 55?

PITA to deal with.

I got a 35gal drum once from VP. That was much more manageable.

Why are neither of those considered street legal? Because of the additional additives or what?

No tax on the fuel if I assume.

Why was that. Just easier to move?

They could require a tax stamp to the state where the shipment is going. I'm wondering if that is the only reason.

I'm sure he's going to be an upstanding man and drain it out before he gets back on the road.

My worry with a big drum and ethanol was H2O contamination. That's why I went with the 5gal pails.

That was also my worry.
I talked to a few people I know from the track I knew who used it and the shop and they all said they’ve been fine for a year or so as long as you seal it back up.
I may also tell my cousin to use it to instead of pump. He can fill his 5 gal jugs and then just pay me the per gallon amount. I’ll go through it a little faster than

Controlling the temperature may help as well. I was also a "little" worried about safety, but not sure there's much difference in 55 gallons in one big drum vs 11 small ones LOL.

There’s probabaly some sort of ordnance my town has on how much fuel can be stored. I’m sure you have one as well. At one point I was told what it was I think it was like 10 gallons.
My garage has heat that never goes below 50 in the winter. Bad news. I didn’t do an ac unit.

I finally got my drum today. Honestly, doesn’t take up near the space I thought it would. I need to steal a pallet from a friend to set it on but for now here it is.
don’t mind some of the mess I would buy hangers for things but I thought I’d have my barn/shop built by now
