- 2017 Charger HC (once upon a time)
So, not feeling great, my knees bothering me, feeling light headed, out taking care of business at the bank, county clerks office, and one of my business offices. Realized I'd forgotten the general warranty deeds and exemplified colorado court records at the house, so I get in the Hellcat Charger and head back to the house. At the first light, I see opposite me, this silver late model camaro driven by a douchebag - this guy got the loudest most obnoxious exhaust I've ever heard put on this thing. At just mild throttle its BWWAWWAAAHHHHHHHHHHH loud. Gives guys with hot rods a bad name. Anyway, my mood is not improved; he's going the wrong way to mess with him. At the next light I see something coming up behind me fast (like 30+ over fast) but I don't pay it any mind. When the light changes, the car in front of me pulls away faster than the car next to it. I stay with him, just easing away, no big deal. The white thing does a jack rabbit start and roars past the slower starter in the right and right onto my ass. I look at him in the rearview and he's swinging from side to side. I'm like WTF? It's a bright bright white BMW; I think it was an M4 coupe, but could have been the 3 or 5. Did not get to see it from the side or rear. Then, as the gap opens next to me as the car in teh right lane falls behind, I ease over into that lane and I glance in the rear and Whitey's cutting into that lane and almost rear ends me. I continue my ease over into that lane and he's incredibly close and still swerving from side to side (can't get around on my left because of that lead car I am now passing). I give him a good long look in the rearview and then nail it - I was in custom but with regular trans selection at that point. He hangs for a second (which was mildly surprising) and then starts to drop back as the Charger pulls away. By the time we're deep in triple digits he's 3 to 5 car lengths back. I brake hard, down to 53-55 and long pull the down shift paddle and let him come up nearly even. Then goose it and when he goes WOT I just bury it. He never even comes up to the door and we start to walk away from him. After a few seconds of this and approaching triple digits again he jumps into the center lane to make a u-turn and the engagement ends. Was in the process of giving him a thumbs up when he bailed.
Now my blood gets up when these kinds of things happen and this case was no different. in the past when I was in great shape this was a non-issue. now, with past age indeterminant lacunar infarcts and things like that when the heart rate and blood pressure rocket makes me think the world is about to end. might not pass the physical for the BBORR that's coming up. we will see. Shortly there after I am almost t-boned by these old geezers in a BMW suv that ran a stop sign at the entrance to my neighborhood (one of the most stupidly laid out intersection in the history of texas and that's saying something).
