Well, crap ! I've been using my parking brake to stop the car (thus avoiding the dreaded 'brake dust' issue) - is that a bad idea ?
I mean, I paid for those shoes back there, might as well get some useful life out of them, right ?

Just wish Dodge had designed these with a console lever to engage the parking brake!
That would really make braking much smoother & just imagine all the 'hooning' fun you could have with it ;)

And $6400 for a pair of CF rotors o_O D-A-Y-M-N boy, they be proud of that shite !

So I have a bit of a vested interest in this, but I felt like I had to share this a bit...

Racing Brake calls out aluminum rear hats and brake companies

Girodisk (and another?) responds

Racing Brake goes a little bit further

I think Racing Brake owes us a bit of an explanation... In what way are we "less intelligent"?

Because I don’t know how to set the parking brake? I mean those who know me understand I don’t like that pedal next to that one that causes the supercharger to scream. But, what is this brake to use when it is parked again? Then I was reading, is it possible some use this parking brake when parked and then forget to quit using it when not parked? This parking brake can cause some irritation of the rear hat because it can catch fire? If we are really ignorant and can’t smell the rear of the car on fire, the rear hats will disintegrate and then the car will make itself go backwards down the street?? Maybe I am stupid. What was that guy posting about? Fuck the parking brake!

Yea.
And an automatic beer dispenser when using emergency brake for daily braking.
What???
Braking, using the E brake makes me thirsty...

So he's been tagged to come over here. Let's see if he does so. He doesn't seem to post a lot, so it might take him a bit?

I'll let him speak for himself as to what he was trying to communicate and as to what his motivations were, but I do have my suspicions that it was a failed attempt at product differentiation.

I can confirm, I’m less intelligent. It’s okay though cause I am still smarter than @Hickster and that’s what counts!

If you want to see "less intelligent" then listen to some of the people from Texas that complained during the winter power outage that all their food spoiled (despite having the world's biggest freezer outside), that they couldn't get water (despite having tons of snow outside to melt on their gas stoves) and that they couldn't get their gas stoves to light with no electricity.

I thought this was settled? Baer uses aluminum hats with integrated parking brake and they're well respected and been doing that a LONG time.

Seriously guys other then manual transmission guys who worries about parking brakes ,today they are no longer considered an E brake (emergency brake) they are only designed to hold the car in park ,

Back in the old days when we had drum brakes; the E brake would apply the rear drum brakes mechanicaly and actualy hold a bit. Today, parking brake is there to take some of the load off the parking pall when parking on a hill. Some of the parking palls ( auto trans ) today are small and pathetic and could stand some help.
