Had to convert my '09 SRT. It never came with one. It was actually pretty easy to do. But now that you mention it I'm due. Lol. I just do it whenever I think about it. Every year or so? Do you use plain or charcoal filter?

Me and the wife took a nice 225 mi ride to the country awhile back. We passed a cow farm that STUNK like manure. Even if I shut the windows I only had the plain. So ever since I run the charcoal. LOL. I went to the store to by the FRAM but it's totally black and literally dripping charcoal (like pepper falling off it bad). I didn't want that stuff blowing all out the vents, so I went with stock Mopar charcoal filter.(Part # 04596501AB)

Come on guys, visually inspect at the oil change, back blow with air pressure, if you can see a flash or trouble light or the sun light through the filter, reinstall :)

Best!

I have changed one, on my '06 that I owned for nearly ten years. Change them when and if they get mold or something, but otherwise like @Blickie says just keep them clean IF you have picked up some contamination.
But, like everything else, if you want to do it, it is your car and your money, knock yourself out.

This is one of those items that is very individual and dependent on where you live & how much you drive.
I changed mine (to a Bosch, HEPA one) @ 3yrs & 55000 miles and the OE filter was not terrible dirty. It's only $15, so not the end of the world.

Every 10k for me...but mine is a pain in the a**. Not sure why but I have to crush the filter inwards to get it into the opening.

just went out and checked both cars, 2005 Magnum which 04596501AB applies to is a bigger filter than my 2017 Charger.

Good thing I checked, the Magnum could use a fresh filter and I do have a charcoal one in there (I think it's a FRAM)

Yes that is the number. I try to right down all service part #'s before I throw away box. I think that Amazon pic is just a "representation" and not actual pic. If you go to eBay and put it in actual pic will show.

Yes I have '09 but I retro fitted it with a fresh air box kit.(don't remember what years it covered). It's an OEM Mopar airbox. I don't have number at my finger tips, it's up in garage.
