There’s attorneys that specialize in exactly this type of fuckery in addition to the option to Lemon Law it which may be an available remedy. Depending on the state the dealer can say whatever they want, but they’re no longer just fighting with an individual customer, sometimes an AG consumer advocate, etc.

Update 2: Dodge has confirmed to Carscoops that PCM tampering was the reason it denied this coverage and not the muffler delete.


“The warranty claim was rejected after a Stellantis Calibration Engineer ran Powertrain Control Module (PCM) diagnostics and confirmed that the vehicle’s PCM was tampered with and contained non-factory software,” a Dodge spokesperson told us. “I haven’t seen anything on our end regarding mufflers (ie not the issue),” he added.

Probably went lean and cylinder seven seems to be the one that’s easiest to damage. When you play have to be prepared to pay, most likely, if the guy went through the trouble to take the mufflers off of a brand new car, he probably played with the tune as well.
