The Dodge Hornet is expected to be based on the Alfa Romeo Tonale. (Alfa Romeo)

IMO,that Euro or Italian look just doesn’t flush with American musclecar fans! Definitely a turnoff for me no matter how much horsepower.

It looks like a crossover SUV.

Because it is.

This is the Alfa Romeo Toenail it's based on-

Not something I'd necessarily want, but Dodge definitely needs something in this space since they have nothing left except the Durango, Charger, and Challenger. All of which are on borrowed time now anyway.

Everything is going to be rebadged European cars like GM does between their different brands?

Every automaker does it to some extent. I wouldn't say everything, but PSA sure as hell isn't going to spend money on dedicated/separate US platforms if it doesn't have to when they can share stuff worldwide. Everything recent (and stuff coming soon) has been developed by the Fiat/Chrysler union. You won't see any product developed (or sharing a platform) with PSA for a few years yet. Stellantis is still trying to sort out redundancy in the new organization and streamline what they can as they move forward.

But this looks like tearing the heart out of a brand that has been extremely successful.
Cross using platforms has been around for 70-80+ years.
Whatever I'm done.

Thinking of looking for a Durango SRT just to have in the garage in addition to my other two Mopars the employer provided Chev won't last forever. That will allow me to remember what we had in a few years when I can't remember anything else.

You know the current Charger/Challenger traces it's roots back to the dark days of the Mercedes merger (takeover) right? A lot of the LX platform was derived from early 2000s E-class and S-class designs and bits.

It's the beginning of the end for V8s in pretty much everything from every manufacturer. Some will be able to hold out longer than others, but it's still coming sadly. Enjoy internal combustion while we still can. 😢

At one point I'd heard that FCA V8s will remain in production, but only for SRT products. That would be cool, but I think the new French overlords have been steering away from even that limited availability. I'm still hoping they find a way to keep them around though.

I owned a few E class cars from that time. The last great Mercedes E Class.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but why does Alfa use the ugliest wheels across their brand? Don’t know much about the heritage, but even if it tied in somehow, I’d imagine market is much different now vs then.

Like my dad used to say, “A blind man would give anything to see those.”

I've thought about buying a spare Challenger. But not for the same reason.
