The second manufacturers can break the dealer network, they are gone.

Ford would like to be order only to put power in buyer hands. But they have to remove the allocation to dealers. Not sure if they are ready to do that. It was kind of a shit storm when they did it with the GT. But not one GT buyer paid a markup either.

And at that level of car and pricing it is an amazing thing.

I am not against.profit, thats how i make my living. I am against gaming, manipulation, and gouging....

Do they really value their dealers? I would think many at Ford (and everywhere) would like to move to an internet based sales system and skip the dealer.

MB dealer asked for the same on the '01 CLK430 I ordered for the wife, it was a lease so I signed it, who cares on a lease? BTW: It was a very nice car but horribly overpriced, but it was part of the high life pre 9/11.
