This morning in the higher elevations of Tucson it was 40 this morning. I put on the heater for the first time and all was well. Then on the way home today it was in the 70s. I put on the ac and the passenger side got cold. But the drivers side is acting as though the heater is on. What is the possible culprit? Thanks

It’s dual zone, did you change the temps for both sides?

Yes sir. Even tried playing with it multiple times. I was reading there are vent door actuators and the drivers side one is known to go out. Blend door actuators.

This happened to me as well. The culprit was that the system was low on freon. Had the system recharged and the problem was gone. My car is a 2019 and uses the new 1234YF freon. Very expensive stuff (notice how everything good for the environment is never cheaper?). Hope this helps

Yes.

The system is designed to perform this way, when low on freon. Why? IDK.

Passenger side cold. Driver side got. Telltale sign of low pressure in the system.

Not sure if you can read system pressure, with Alfa, but it might be wotrth a try.

Now that it finally has cooled down, the other day I turned the heater on in the new to me Durango since it was about 25 outside.

Warm on the left side, cool on the left. Close enough - I'm sure the heated steering wheel still works.

Yeah, I left kinda late.

It's been in the teens at night lately, but not single digits yet. I really like fall since it doesn't get hot during the day. It's been quite nice (highs in the mid 60s or less), but now it looks like snow until Saturday.

Still, that sure beats it being hot.
