So I had decided to buy a Whipple 3.0. Lethal had the best price on the stage 2 and Labor day weekend had 10% off so I decided to order it. I also had to pick up the 3 bar map sensors 53010887AA and worried they would not make it on time being they had been back ordered but they made it before the blower. It showed up last Saturday and I started the install. Taking the stock one off isn't too bad but was more time consuming putting the new one on. The map sensors are in different places so there are wiring extensions to add. @16GoManGoHC2 did the install awhile back and he added a plug to the temp sensor extension (moves from rear to front) so he didn't have to cut into the factory wiring harness so I did the same. He also told me to buy M6x40mm bolts to work with the blower spacers. The kit comes with a 3.75" pulley but I bought a 3.00 griptec for it. To my surprise the belt that came with it, 59.4 fit perfect. I had the spacers and bigger idler pulleys which I had to run a 58.5 on the stock setup which the stock belt is a 57.9. Ran into a couple things with missing 2 O rings for the coolant fittings and I was missing the wrong size nipple fitting for the blower to the valve cover on the passenger side. I would have probably had it done Sunday if not for that. Monday I was able to find some O rings at Ace hardware and was able to rig up a fix for the fitting until the correct one made it Thursday

Monday it started right up with a tune Jon sent. 2nd test drive it threw a code for the big 112mm tb but Jon made an adjustment in the tune and all has been fine since

DA was looking good Saturday so we made it to the track. My car was the heaviest it has every been at 4690 with everything in the trunk and more fuel, Jon's car is 300 lbs less be comparison. We decided to start out at 15 degrees timing and leaving in 2nd gear. My engine and exhaust are stock with 2.62 gears. My best 60 ft has been a 1.43 leaving in 1st and on the 1st pass leaving in 2nd had a 1.42 and ran 9.39 at 149. Jon added 2 degrees of timing to 17 and it ran another 9.39 at 148 both in the right lane. Da was around 100 at this time. Jon made a couple of changes with the same 17 degrees and I went 9.36 at 148 in the left. Da was around 400 on 3rd pass. I like to run both lanes because not uncommon for one lane to show higher mph but they both looked to be close.

Shifts are around 6350 and even with the 1650 injectors and twin 295 fuel pumps fuel was dropping some on the shifts. Jon was looking for 75 psi and at the shifts and it was dropping into the 60s. Duty cycle was showing in the 80s on the shifts. In 5th going through the lights pressure was fine and duty cycle was in the 60s so only happening at the top of the gears. I will be adding a BAP to fix this.

Hopefully we will see some better DA and with the car a little lighter should be in the 20s or teens. We could add more timing and E85R fuel and see what happens

Very happy how it turned out with the help from @jonx96 and @16GoManGoHC2

That is rolling! Seems like 150 mph is around the corner! Are you still driving it to work @vortecd?

Uh. It’s an idea instead of triples. You can adjust voltage with bap so prolly leave it on low setting.

I asked him do you want to risk an engine and try 8s. I think the car will go 8s. We saw somethings in the logs and talking about the launch we think we can get the 60ft in the 1.3s. Do that and a few more degrees I think it’s doable in the car. I told him it’s all on how hard you want to push it.

I’ll be the first one to admit ‘I know nothing!’ But I do remember having a conversation some time ago with the guy at Fore. Quote… “Don’t EVER put one of those POS on our pumps”. I’m sure he was overstating 😂

Jons

May be a better option then a 3rd pump. It will only be on during boost and we won't be upping voltage much

Triples or bust, literally. I had a BAP stop in the middle of a run. Fuck those things.

Is there a way to only run 3rd pump when needed?

Yes, you usually use a fc3 controller with a hobbs switch. I have one 295 running all the time. When boose is above 5 psi the other two kick in. You could also run power to a switch/relay if you wanted. Id really really advise against a bap.

My triple pump full return is on about as much crack as they can take, triple pumps, triple bap one for each pump. Marc and Fumanchu would not approve, lol.
