I don't know what the old one was, it is the 180 installed as part of the S2, it doesn't look like the pics of the Gates, only markings are "STC", "001" and "63mm".

Probably would be a good idea for '22 owners to watch the temp, and maybe consider a preemptive replacement. I am considering putting the Mishimoto 180 in my '20M6. These cars run stronger when cool, and cooler oil should help engine life. I don't think anyone cares about efficiency, unless it improves performance!

I'm guessing you searched my quote "STC" and google gave you results for "STP".

This is a perfect example of why to never use the fascist google. They DO NOT give you hits YOU want, the give you hits THEY WANT!

I searched "STC brand marking on automotive thermostat" and it came back with SMP Standard Motor Products.
No idea if there's any truth to that.
this link came up. STC may be its own brand, or it could just be like gates and white label lots of stuff. (although Gates doesn't bother to relabel parts--they'll still say Litens or whoever on them...)
