IM IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING THE TRANS OUT OF MY HELLCAT BECAUSE I HAVE CLUTCHES SLIPPING UNDER WOT
IF I GET ENOUGH RESPONSES ILL DO SOME VIDEO (WILL NOT BE SPEEDY QUALITY LOL) KEEP IN MIND ILL ONLY BE REPLACING THE STEEL AND FRICTION MODULES,FLUID AND FILTER IN MINE BECAUSE IT ONLY HAS 19,000 MILES ON IT AND NORMAL DRIVING THE SHIFTING IS STILL FINE. I KNOW THAT THE SEALS ARE FINE JUST HAVENT SEEN MUCH ON THIS ON THE FORUM ,BUT THERE IS MORE IN DEPTH INFO TO BE FOUND ON YOUTUBE IF YOUR CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT A FULL REBUILD LOOKS LIKE .ILL BE USING THE ALTO FICTION AND STEEL MODULE ,WHICH I BELIEVE IS ALSO USED BY SOUTHERN HOT ROD ON THERE UNITS

just an update we just drained the fluid and although the fluid looks clean it has a very distinctive burnt smell ,which I suspected I would find ,being clean that tells us the fluid wasn't overheated but the burnt smell lets us know the frictions(clutch plates) have been slipping and are burnt

I agree the clutches are slipping, but how did you rule out that the TCMor valve plate may be blocked or the solenoid aren't functioning properly and using full pressure (assuming full pressure from the pump hasn't been compromised)?
Are you going to use the old valve body or get a reconditioned/new one?

You have a valid point and yes on these assemblies the solenoids are known to have issues but usually on high mileage vehicles and when it’s has high contamination, I will post pics but I’ve already removed the pan and it’s actually very clean as you will see
But remember my transmission if you didn’t run it in the track on the road you wouldn’t know there was even an issue
But I love the feedback and I will answer any and all questions to the best of my knowledge

Good stuff. I'm real curious what you find. Haven't heard about many (any) of these transmissions having problems in a long time and the early issues were due to improper tuning. Wonder if your original tuner didn't have the mojo setup proper.

Converter, and pump pic , on these there is an oring on the input shaft that needs to be removed before removing the pump, also the pan and pump bolts are torque to yield meaning one time use only , pump bolt kit will run $60 plus and the pan bolts are part of a filter and gasket kit that I believe runs $300 plus , I’m replacing my pans bolts with steel ones so I don’t have to buy new bolts every time I service it

As you can see the pan looks fine
If you look close at the pic with the main control valvebody two pan bolts broke off I will have to drill them out but that is usually easy because of the aluminum 63143CAE-0298-44A1-91DA-E8606DC5342A.jpeg 8F24E6BC-953E-4AEC-85EF-5D08E25AD335.jpeg

If there is anyone to blame it’s me for logging on the interstate with transmission in street instead of track unless as I dig deeper into the assy I find something else
This thread is not to point fingers as to whether or not a tune caused it ( which I honestly do not believe so) it’s just to help members make educated decisions

This is pics of the Valvebody before and after removal , the one pic shows the steel bracket that must have the bolt removed and bracket pulled up in order to remove the connector sleeve to get Valvebody off , remove only the bolt heads that require a 40 torx bit socket , there is also a seal that must be removed in the case before pump removal

I agree with you . Once a person starts modifying their car parts will break . It's not if but when . This is a great thread as there haven't been too many that I'm aware of on the A8 .
