Full ev is really far off for a large portion of rural america, I think hybrids that can self charge are probably the better short term solution.

I understand the dislike with the ev push but it's literally evolve or be forgotten for these manufacturers, remember n/a vs forced induction, auto v manual, etc etc

The cars are literally moving like tech these days, it's wild.
Yeah I was really expecting a hybrid first.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. It seems like "Hammerhead" would likely be the flagship vehicle for 2024, which I'm guessing is a coupe.

What happens to the Charger/Challenger models? Do they continue? People are obviously buying them and would likely continue to over next couple of years. Do they put a 4 banger turbo in all of them, do they keep the V6? Do they just axe the hellcat and keep the rest?

And what happens if no one (well lesser) buys/wants this EV? They'll just jump to another manufacturer that has what they want. Obviously there is a very large number of people who will not have access to charge EV in 2-3 years time; nor can afford adding the service to their current panel.
Who knows what they’re gonna keep/cut. I just don’t really think they’re gonna put all their eggs in one basket with ev. Not at first anyway. Hell I could be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time. 😂

I think they see TESLA in their sights and don't want to go the crawl walk run pathway...(even though they probably should)...

Dodge could KEEP this ancient platform for a few years longer...if it still looks good and has mostly ice as its power source we are (ok most are) still "in"...esp at 1000hp....but by doing it this way Tim is going in with giant balls....ALL EV..and ALL NEW PLATFORM design...which probably has to be drag friendly (not 1/4 mi drag mind u...drag coefficient..as in Cd!)...given that reality, its gotta be egg-like or at least pseudo egg-like

so dodge is doing a double risk whammy....ALL EV (instantly!) and NEW, probably radically different design...where does that leave dodge with all the loyal people on the current muscle bandwagon?

are those phone swallowing diverse kids Tim mentioned going to pick up the muscle mantle?

man, I highly doubt that...

0.02

guess we will all find out soon enough!
Ram still builds the "Classic" 4th gen 1500 truck.
Jeep held onto the older JK Wrangler in 2018 when building the new JL.

I can see them keeping the Challenger/Charger going while a new platform rolls out.

The old stuff is still popular and paid for.

Probably coming
Already have a Wrangler and Pacifica hybrid. But it was called "EV Day" so it wasn't the place to talk about it I guess.

I think they deliver a straight 6 with a turbo and hybrid that can make over 600-700hp. Supposedly, there is an inline turbo 6 that has been floating around to replace the 5.7 Hemi.

This makes me wonder if they drop anything for 2023 in terms of Challenger/Charger special editions

Wasn't there talk about a turbo inline 6 a few years ago. Think they even mentioned it as a replacement for the Hellcat engine.

It's been a few years now. I believe it's called the Tornado.

Makes sense, since they used to have a Hurricane.

It sort of looks like they purposely made it look like a SC V8 in there ...

Thought we were all done with spark plug wires:unsure:

I wonder what electrocution hazard is when working on one of these. Hot rodders beware.

My theory is that these manufacturers will be getting huge government subsidies for development of EV. That's likely why Dodge jumped on. I'm hoping there's still an announcement about a hybrid that has the 6.2L SC V8 and two 100HP electric motors up front but could be wishful thinking.

Looks like I'm gonna be that old guy riding around in a classic as a DD. I have no interest in an EV and even if I did we don't have hardly any charging locations or anything like that around here. You honestly couldn't give me a Tesla to drive for free.

Guess the hold out may be for the C8 Z06 now, I keep hearing it's gonna be hybrid and 1000HP AWD with a TT V8 as the primary last report I saw.

Z06 is supposed to be a 5.5L 32V 600+hp NA V8 that spins upwards to 9000rpm (id love this motor with a stick in a classic car)

ZR1 is supposedly an 850 HP TT version of the Z06 V8
Zora is supposedly the 1000HP version of the TT but in hybrid trim

I think GM has the Demon on its sights for the ZR1 to go out as king of the ICE engines when it all comes to an end.

With Stellantis being the European Flair 😳I think the painting is on the wall. ICE is DEAD for us DODGE guys and yeh ok sure I could be wrong but NAH. The Europeans are border line worst than the Californians so better keep your ICE if you're an ICE Age guy.
